Disease Prevention
Working in healthcare can be risky. Exposure to toxic substances, harmful medications, and infectious diseases are just a few of the existing and potential hazards arising out of the workplace.

At OHSAH, our Disease Prevention program focuses on keeping healthcare workers healthy and safe from chemical, biological and environmental hazards. Our Occupational Hygienists play a vital role in:

  • Evaluating the workplace for hazards and potential dangers and assessing their level of risk.
  • Making recommendations on improving the safety of workers by eliminating harmful substances, implementation of engineering and administrative controls, as well as suggesting personal protective equipment options.
  • Training and educating healthcare workers about job-related risks.
  • Participating in the development of health and safety best practices guidelines to improve working conditions.
  • Consulting with our stakeholders to support compliance with occupational regulations for healthcare
