In March 2008, the Leadership Council mandated that all healthcare organizations in BC post standard provincial language signs. The goal of the signage is to raise awareness of violence in the healthcare workplace and inform visitors of healthcare facilities that violence is not acceptable. The mandated signage states the following:

“Violence, foul language and abusive behaviours are not acceptable. Verbal threats or acts of violence will not be tolerated and may result in removal from this facility and/or prosecution.”

In September 2008, it was recognized by the Provincial Violence Prevention Steering Committee (PVPSC) that translating the signage into other languages was important to pursue, given that all individuals receiving treatment at a healthcare facility may not be fluent in English.

Through consultation with WorkSafeBC and Provincial Language Services, the PVPSC selected 12 languages that would most likely be spoken in healthcare facilities in BC.

OHSAH is pleased to provide you with these downloadable violence prevention signs, in 12 different languages.

Their format enables organizations to insert their own logo, at the bottom.
