Funding Agency: Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research (MSFHR)
Collaborators: Fraser Health; Vancouver Coastal Health; University of British Columbia
Grant received: 2006
Objective: To explore the role of pain, depressive symptoms, and cognitive variables in the recovery and return to work of healthcare workers after a work injury.

This study is exploring the role of pain, depressive symptoms, and cognitive variables in the recovery and return to work of healthcare workers after a work injury. Participants in the Prevention and Early Active Return-to-Work Safely (PEARS) program in Fraser Health and Vancouver Island Health Authority will be asked to fill out a series of questionnaires upon commencing their treatment, followed by questionnaires two and six months later. Their answers will be used to identify the relationship between work outcomes in healthcare workers and their depression/pain profiles. This will help provision of appropriate support services.
