Objective: To identify which areas of hospitals are determinants of exposure and barriers to compliance with safe work practices
Antineoplastic drugs are used for the treatment of cancer. Occupational exposure to these drugs has been documented in the past and, as a result, guidelines have been produced to minimize such exposure. However, despite the use of recommended control measures, contamination of the work environment has still been found. This places a number of healthcare workers at risk of exposure. This study aims to identify the possible determinants of exposure in order to subsequently develop an evidence-based approach to minimize the exposure risk. The study will also examine factors which are potential barriers to compliance with existing control measures in order to facilitate changes in practices/attitudes.
