Objective: Establishment of effective protocols to better control and manage hazardous drugs contaminants in BC healthcare facilities.
This is the first BC study to quantify drug aerosols and accurately assess total cytotoxic drug exposure of healthcare workers, including dermal, ingestion, and inhalation. A systematic method will be used to develop and validate an efficient air sampling protocol, to accurately assess workers’ exposure to cytotoxic drugs.
The intended outcome from this research project is information that will assist in establishing effective protocols to better control and manage hazardous drugs contaminants in BC healthcare facilities.
Dr. George Astrakianakis is one of the co-investigators for this study.
